Job Description:

The candidate will need to display the rare combination of subject matter expertise, high integrity, with strong communication and influencing skills, and clear commercial acumen. There is significant scope for the candidate to develop this role as RB continues to quickly evolve.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities
  • Advise key internal stakeholders on the accounting treatment for significant corporate transactions, including acquisitions, joint ventures and disposals
  • Set guidance for external and internal policies to ensure the group is compliant with all current accounting standards (IFRS), listing rules (UK LSE) and all other relevant regulatory requirements
  • Review proposed and ongoing developments in all relevant regulatory requirements to ensure the group is prepared for adoption of new requirements
  • Advise group finance management of the commercial impact of new accounting requirements
  • Build strong relationships across wide geographies in order to effectively support operational finance teams and ensure consistency in the interpretation and application of RB accounting treatments and finance policies
  • Responsible for the financial section of the Group’s annual (and interim) report, interacting closely with Corporate Reporting
  • Lead the group’s relationship with the external auditors to ensure appropriate service levels for the group, as well as ensuring that policies and treatments are appropriate and acceptable
  • Responsible for communicating, planning and organising the year end (and half year) external audit. 
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining the Group Finance Manual using a deep understanding of business operations
  • Review and revise key accounting policies and procedures in line with the evolving business requirements of the Group
  • Responsible for individual and team performance management and development, ensuring that each team member has clear and aligned objectives. Develop career plans for high potential individuals and assist in seeking development opportunities inside and outside CHQ
  • Support and coach other members of the Corporate Control team, contribute to the overall effectiveness of the wider team through membership of the Corporate Control management team
  • Maintain flexibility and proactively seek out other areas where experience and expertise can be beneficial across the group finance function, playing an integral role in the ongoing organisational transformation

Job Requirements:

Professional Qualifications / Experience
  • Qualified ACA
  • Must be a graduate with a 2.1 degree from a reputable university
  • Very strong knowledge of IFRS essential
  • Proven experience of providing technical accounting advice to international organisations
  • The most relevant experience for this role will be either commercial or practice based analysis and interpretation of accounting standards and the provision of technical accounting advice to commercial organisations, ideally including FMCG organisations and / or UK listed corporations

  • Can manage diverse groups of people, has strong cultural empathy, excellent interpersonal skills and can build constructive relationships internally and externally, is good at finding common ground and pragmatic solutions to problems

  • Ability to generate creative solutions to complex technical accounting problems
