Job Description:

Applications are invited from suitably qualified person for this position in the Planning Department PFG Building Glass, Springs. The position reports to the PFG Planning Manager.
  • Assist Q1 signatories with the completion of the Q1 form used for the creation of new materials. Responsible for the review process of information provided on the Q1 form.
  • Manage and control accuracy, completeness, validity and structure of materials master data.
  • Create and maintain material master data in SAP and APO according to information provided on the approved Q1 form using SAP MM and Winshuttle functionality.
  • Accountable for the accuracy of the SAP material master data on active and inactive materials.
  • Conduct regular structured audits to ensure a sustainable SAP system.
  • Responsible for the accurate costing and activation of new materials in SAP on time in line with agreed timetable.
  • Take ownership for all issues that are identified in PFG SAP master data and submit findings and suggested solutions to the relevant line management.
  • Maintain, update and improve the PFG master data manual and ensure compliance by business.
  • Liaise with management and all functions of the business to ensure material master control objectively represent the business and financial process.
  • Perform an active role in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline master data creation, and master data accuracy to effectively support the PFG supply chain process.
  • Investigate and resolve ad hoc queries related to material master data.
  • Manage and report on the key master data KPI's to support the above.
  • Grade 12 is essential.
  • Diploma or BTech in Logistics, Industrial Engineering or Operations Management supported by a SAPICS CPIM certification.
The successful candidate will join the PFG Production Planning team and will be exposed to the latest and best practices with regards to Materials Master Data Management. The successful candidate will:
  • Define and implement Master Data Governing policies.
  • Have experience and a good working knowledge of the SAP MM/PP/CO and APO modules.
  • Lead the PFG, master data cleansing, archiving projects and institute business processes to maintain healthy data.
  • Configure and apply master data business rules.
  • Apply SAP standard tools to support sustainable master data governance.
  • Update and configure master data for the relevant planning processes.

Job Requirements:

The position would complement a person who has the following skills and experience:
  • Minimum five years' experience in a planning or materials management environment with specific knowledge of SAP/CO/SD/PP/MM and APO.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the creation & management of SAP material master.
  • Attention to detail and strong administrative skills is required to create materials accurately and to maintain the logic.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required to communicate with business owners and users.
  • The ability to manage and maintain master data governing policies within all areas of the business. Advanced Microsoft Excel competency is required to review current material master data and maintain templates and documents.
  • High level of insight and understanding into how the material master impact on operational/business processes is required.
  • The candidate must be driven, work independently, be analytical and must be assertive to ensure plan adherence and customer needs are met.
