Job Description:

The RCL FOODS Talent Team is on the hunt for an experience Finance Manager to join our logistics division. The successful incumbent will be responsible for controlling the functions performed by the Primary Secondary Distribution (PSD) and Customer Secondary Distribution (CSD) trade creditor team as well as manage the respective customers, principal and monthly reporting requirements. Additional responsibilities include VAT arrangements and driving compliance with IFRS, Income Tax Act and RPM.

Key Accountabilities:

Financial Reporting:                                                      

  • Ensure that monthly stock reporting and creditors ageing report is reviewed and completed.
  • Ensure that the creditors ledger is maintained according to company policy and IFRS.
  • Ensure that monthly close off accounts fairly reflects the monthly results of the Business.            
  • Prepare monthly board packs and slides.                               

Operations Management:                            

  • Monthly rotational reviews of creditor reconciliations for both CSD and PSD teams.
  • Review PSD and CSD monthly reconciliation ageing report and drive prompt resolution of all queries.
  • Ensure supplier accounts are reconciled and paid according to terms and agreed pricing conditions.
  • Ensure that distribution fees and charges for services are recovered from principals are in line with agreed SLA.
  • Review and sign-off on the accounting and vat treatment for consignment stock.
  • Engage in regular discussions with the depots to ensure that process and recon issues are resolved.

Month-End Management:                                            

  • Ensure that all transactions for month-end close have been processed.              
  • Review and sign-off the monthly principal margin analysis and assist branches the correct accounting entries.Provide month-end support to the Admin controllers and Regional Financial Manager

Tax Compliance:                                                                                           

  • Sign off th1e Consignment Vat reconciliation and confirm reported numbers with the consignment principal.
  • ​Involvement in the new SARS EDI export process and implement into new countries when required.
  • Assist with various ad hoc tax requirements with regards to exporting into Africa.                

Ad Hoc Functions/Projects:                                                        

  • Obtain advanced SAP knowledge on relevant accounting process flows, including how pricing and billing process work as well as sign-off all IT configuration testing for new principals and customers take-ons.              
  • Assist the Customer team with pricing model options and the relevant system implementation plan.
  • Identify risks within the stock department and drive the required resolution.    
  • Identify and drive material master data errors correction with the respective master data manager.

Staff Supervision:                                                          

  • Supervise staff activities, ensuring service levels are met and protocols are adhered to.
  • Coach and support staff where necessary to achieve objectives.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant Finance / Accounting Degree and Qualified CA
  • Minimum 3-5 years post articles working experience
  • Extensive experience with the IFRS standards and the Tax Act
  • Advanced tax/vat exposure an advantage
  • SAP R/3 experience preferable

Skills & Knowledge:

  • SAP R/3 (FI, SD and MM modules)
  • IFRS standards and the Tax Act
  • Commercial and business principles and practices
  • An understanding of multiple key performance indicators, inter-relationship and bottom line sensitivity
