Job Description:

The incumbent will be responsible for co-ordinating and facilitating drug access and authorization for patients at Provider level. As such, the incumbent will be required to:

MAIN FOCUS OF THE ROLE· 
  • Implement reimbursement strategies that will allow greater access to innovative products.
  • Implement economic value strategies
  • Ensure alignment with the Product Teams on activities that directly impact the reimbursement status of products/ indications
  • Interface and partner with internal and external stakeholders
  • Exploring innovative solutions to meet business and National health objectives.  
  • Have a high degree of intellectual curiosity; superior organizational, preparation, and analytical skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Comfortable working on multiple initiatives in a highly dynamic environment, as well as the ability to remain calm under pressure and/or in ambiguous situations is crucial.
  • The Pricing and Tender manger is responsible for maintaining and improving reimbursement for products through the development and implementation of market access strategies and tactics, stakeholder relations and pricing policy activities in collaboration with Market Access team.
  • The Pricing and Tender manger is the expert on the pricing and reimbursement processes and legislation. The Pricing and Reimbursement manager is partly field-based and works very closely with the rest of the Market Access Team. 
  • Manage pricing databases as well Tenders
  • Timeous analysis and submissions of SEP updates to the Department of Health
  • Close working relationship with the PEE at the Department of Health
  • Monitoring of databases for publication of Tenders as well as updates

Health Economics:

  • Implementation of product specific economic value strategies that help position key products/brands with payers (private &public) and other applicable stakeholders. Continuously strengthen the economic evidence base of products.
  • Implement Clinical & Economic tools (PE models, Budget Impact models, value dossier and economic value messages) that promote the value of products to secure optimal funding and reimbursement in both Public and Private Sectors.

Pricing:

  • Develops recommendations around pricing, SEP submissions and changes and LOE products
  • Develop strong understanding of price referencing structure and dynamics in bench mark countries  
  • Track and follow up on impact of pricing decisions and continuously adapt and adjust in order to maximise business opportunities.
  • In depth knowledge of excel and business case preparation to support the access directors strategies

Funding & Patient Access:

  • In collaboration with the Pricing and Re-imbursement Manager development and implementation of access tools, reimbursement and economic strategies
  • Development of reimbursement solutions in collaboration with internal stakeholders to optimise patient access  
  • Developing fundamental concepts and strategies for ARMs and future models, based on business vision and in consultation with market access and commercial teams
  • Developing, implementing and managing the project plan for ARMs and HTAs
  • Driving cross-functional alignment and implementation across all business units
  • Establishing and cultivating cross-functional relationships. Working collaboratively with all internal/external partners and stakeholders
  • Ensuring assigned goals and objectives are met and that assigned projects and other work are completed on time, to high standards and within budget
  • Responsible for reporting adverse experiences or events (AEs), adverse device events (ADEs) ,  product quality complaints (PQCs) and other reportable information, customer feedback (CF),  alleged counterfeiting, diversion and tampering (CDT) that they become aware of to the Designated Point of Contact (DPOC)

 

 

 

 

 

Job Requirements:

Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required  -

Education

  • Matric and a Tertiary Education in health sciences or economics

Qualification and Experience

  • Clinical experience advantageous and/or funder experience advantageous
  • Min 5yrs experience in Market Access with 2yrs in a pricing role
  • Pharmaceutical product knowledge;
  • Administrative ability;
  • Analytical capability;
  • The ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels
